Burrr-by-me

Aspiring Uniform

Burberry have been at the fore front of english outerwear design since they opened there doors way back in eighteen fifty six. Although there original designs were aimed more at server weather conditions than the fashion conscious, they still hold there own on the catwalks, and there customers are the envy of most fashionistas.
Still a massive player in the luxury market, there traid mark tartan pattern is recognised the world over. Although not always draped on the right body, the real Haymarket check is easily recognised, and a real clients can be easily spotted amongst the masses of council estate teen parents, and ex Soap star wannabes.

After reviewing what Burberry had to offer this Autumn, I found this single breasted, canvas, field jacket. With its detachable shearling lining, I wanted it the moment I set my peepers on it. Although this fine piece of apparel carries a larger price tag, and is part of the larger, and prestigious, Burberry Prorsum collection, I would still very much like to see this one hanging along side me current collection of winter coats.

Notch on my Blogspot

Uniform at ground level #2

The self confessed no-man band, AMiTY might be lacking band members but when it comes to self presentation she's far from the bargain bin. You might think that obvious musical inspirations are to blame for the way in which she has chosen to represent herself, but when you listen to this solo phenomenon and allow her audio stimulation to vent through your senses, you will soon appreciate her unique manor.

Her outfit, an original and unique creation by Northbrook Graduate, Brett Le Bratt, who specialises in menswear. He created the one off for the songstress to debut during her 'i SPY' tour, that is currently underway. Carefully positioned incisions leave little to the imagination, leaving me feeling that at any moment I may catch a glimpse of unmarked territory. In true AMiTY style she's played it classic when it comes to her lower half and stuck with her trusty basic, black denim and heavy footgear prescribed by Dr Martens, a specialty you rarely see the melodist out of. Still repping leather coat-wear circa 3 seasons ago, and still making it look fresher than persil. Hovering at waist height, it's a statement addition to the outfit and one that will never be erased from the forefront of fashion no matter what the century. The iconic leather jacket adorned everyone from the Fonz to Olivia Newton-John in similar iconic roles.

An assortment of silver chains, charms and trinkets, memories and memorabilia hang from her neck like medals of evenings that will be reminisced upon come sunlight.

A true artist, that never sticks to just one palette, a lyrical genius worthy of an Ivor Novello, and a genuine icon in the making.

All Day I Dream About Stitches

Uniform at ground level. #1

Meet April, a literal fashion school dropout. Gone are the days when she roamed the corridors of the prestigious London College of Fashion, where her follicles would be enveloped deep in lookbooks and fabric samples but FF three years and all this has been replaced with latex gloves and a passion for the pensioner.

From sketchbooks...to textbooks.

April is a youthful Flo Nightingale on a crash course to A&hEaven. Fortunately for me, the bloodied apron and theatre moccasins were tossed aside in favour of a surprisingly super-sized Jeremy Scott creation, when I managed to pap her.

The agile garm is obviously versatile, either worn on its own as an ill-fitting dress or depending on the wearers torso, a collaboration fused together as a hodge-poged ensemble.
Designed from an abundance of black jersey, fashioned into a T-design, with front lace panelling to reveal the wearers flesh, and a sequin embroidered iconic Adidas logo. Although the piece is constructed from very fragile fabrics, which insinuate feminine traits, the figure and silhouette of the design are very flexible in terms of sexuality and would equally benefit from a stronger masculine frame.

From stitching seems to stitching wounds. April has still shown that regardless of her change in profession, she still carries a torch for her prior craft.

The Accidental Uniform

For todays uniform:

I have selected a basic grey t-shirt as the foundation from the uniform. A vital piece in any modern males wardrobe.
+ A new denim shirt that was debuted on this fine evening.
+ A basic American Apparel burgundy hood. Brought as a Friday night delight.
+ Some old black work jeans, from season past.
+ Finished off with some vintage boots selected from the area of fine dining.

Uni-For all the sexes

Everyones Uniform

Everyones favourite closet basics usually originates from the place we now know as American Apparel. A top end High St retailer, that has a cult following, and a 'now' favourite amongst floppy haired boys who look to the likes of Zack Morris and Brian Johnson for exterior inspiration, or grungy bun head girls that team heavy footwear with black nail polish and leather jackets. American Apparel gives a reason to spend our well earned pennies on a simple treat that could just as easily be found hanging else where on the high street, and leave you with enough change to grab 3 Happy meals.

A favourite of mine due to their pastel colour pallet and their homage to 80's classic preppy styles. Their Miami Vice cuts and silhouettes, and barely-over-the-nipple gym wear, merchandised with their bold and diluted colours, act as a rainbow around each individual, yet identical store layout. With each garm represented solely in a plethora of pigments and an array of tones imaginable, the wheel of what to throw one oneself can be pretty tenacious.
